A part of the Asheville community for over 27 years, Rowhouse Architects’ consistent goal as a firm has been to “create significant places of lasting value.” Projects range from historic preservation, adaptive re-use, multi-family housing, and innovative commercial design. Rowhouse has worked on several notable projects in Asheville and beyond, including the historic restoration of The Grove Arcade, The Flat Iron Building, and the Kenilworth Inn Apartments in Asheville. Their ability to design new buildings in a historic context is evident in the Broadway Townhomes at 223 Broadway Street and the Beacham’s Curve live/work development in West Asheville, both of which won Griffin Awards for new construction in a historic setting. Along with multiple Griffin Awards for Historic Preservation, Rowhouse has been recognized for their work, including two Gertrude S. Carraway Awards of Merit from Preservation North Carolina and the NCAIA Honor Award for the Grove Arcade. However, while awards provide valuable validation for their work, the ultimate measure of success lies in the satisfaction of their clients and the people who inhabit their buildings.
